The Assignment The assignment was titled Application, Interaction, and Form Design of a Camera Phone, and was presented as follows: "Working in teams of three, students will design new applications and novel methods for interaction with a camera phone. Following a user-centered design process, students will research a specific user group, design an application involving the camera phone that serves the needs of this community, and design the form and interaction of the device." We chose Elders for our user group, for two main reasons. First, we felt that designing a camera phone for this group would be particularly challenging, and would offer the best opportunity for gaining hands-on experience in a user-centered interaction design process. Second, with baby boomers approaching their senior years, there will be a tremendous opportunity and responsibility for our generation to design technology that is usable and useful to the elder population.
